    APSLH High Efficiency Jet-Shear Mud Mixing Systems With Integrated Venturi


    Jet-Shear Mud Mixing Systems is a combination of centrifugal pump and Integrated Venturi with the pipeline. Which is also referred to as a mixing Integrated Venturi pump.     Using our unique history as a provider of performance chemicals, Aipu solids control has developed a line of drilling fluid jet shear systems. Jet shear systems are designed to use hydraulic shear to efficiently mix solids with liquids. APSLH jet shear systems ensure efficient mixing of soluble polymers and bentonite used in waterbased drilling fluids, therefore, eliminating “fish eyes.” Drilling fluid yield and gel strength properties are instantly obtained with hydraulic shearing of bentonite or organophilic clays.
    APSLH Jet-Shear Mud Mixing Systems is used to concoct the drilling fluids and to change its density and viscosity. This device can satisfy the fluid weighting & mixing of the solids control system used for 1500m-9000m drilling.

    On AIPU mud mixing pump, the centrifugal pump is mechanical sealed and rather reliable. There is a high-quality butterfly valve on pump pipelines. This will help to control the mudflow rate and the compounding better during operation. The pressure is 0.2~0.4Mpa.

    Aipu solids control provides several corrosion-resistant valves, Integrated Venturi, and plumbing options. All units are fitted with pressure gauges and high-pressure ball valves for chemical injection. The Integrated Venturi incorporates a bentonite loading bench and butterfly valve to enhance the ergonomic addition of dry products.

    Principle of mud mixer process

    The addition of liquid additives is made easy with the incorporation of an injection port into the jet pump. This port is capable of handling liquid additives, such as lubricants, polyacrylamides, and oil-wetting emulsifiers. By incorporating an in-line static mixer, the operator is given the choice of imparting low shear into the drilling mud. By simply adjusting the valve arrangement, operators can choose to either bypass all shear or
    impart low or high shear. The fluid flow goes directly through the high-shear line, the fluid flow is directed through a dual-head high-shear mixer that splits the fluid flow and then forces the two fluid streams to shear against themselves when reintroduced. When the appropriate level of mixing is imparted into the drilling mud, polymers are efficiently used, therefore lowering additive costs.

    APSLH Jet-Shear Mud Mixing Systems is a unit used together with the solids control system for petroleum drilling and horizontal directional drilling(HDD). The unit includes one sand pump, one venturi mud mixing Integrated Venturi and one jet mud mixing hopper and pump that are installed in a base with pipe valves.     Though each aipu system is fully capable of ensuring homogenous drilling mud, the greatest value is Aipu’s in-house engineering team with the ability to meet each customer’s needs through system customization. As needed to meet specific customer needs, custom Integrated Venturis, chemical injection systems, and operator control systems can be provided.     Mud Hopper Recommendations

    The following recommendations will promote efficient mud hopper installation and use:

    • Select a mud hopper that is properly sized for the mud system. Generally, a single hopper is sufficient for most rigs. If the mud circulating rate is greater than 1200 GPM, then consider using a hopper with 1200-GPM capacity. Generally, there is no need to add chemicals faster than this. For many operations, 600 to 800 GPM is adequate.
    • Keep the lines to and from the hopper as short and straight as possible. Size the pump and motor based on the system head and flow rate requirements. A venturi is beneficial in all operations, but especially when the system backpressure may reduce the mud hopper efficiency and operation. The venturi will allow fluid to move vertically higher than the hopper height. On many rigs, hoppers are placed at ground level and the downstream pipe is raised to a height equal to or greater than the top of the mud tanks.
    • Use new or clean fittings to reduce friction loss. After each operation, flush the entire system with clean fluid to prevent the mud from drying and plugging the system. Clean the throat of the hopper to prevent material from bridging over that will cause poor performance the next time the hopper is used.
    • A table should be attached to or located near the hopper to hold sacks of material. The table should be at a convenient height (36 to 42 in., or 0.9 to 1.1 m) so that personnel can add material easily with minimal strain. Power-assisted pallet and sack handlers will enhance addition rates and minimize personnel fatigue.
    • As with all equipment on the rig, develop a regular maintenance and inspection program for the mud hopper. The mud hopper is normally simple and easy to operate, but worn jets and valves will hinder the operation. Inspect the entire system every 30 to 60 days. Maintain an inventory of spare nozzles, valves, and bushings.
