1. Description

0.73 ounce per square yard style 106 fiberglass cloth is the famous half-ounce cloth that is been used for giving tough skin to balsa model planes for a half-century or more. Style 106 fiberglass cloth is slightly heavier and more balanced than 104. The glass rod filament used in style 106's yarn is just 5 microns in diameter or less than one-tenth the diameter of a human hair. This kind of perfectly balanced lightweight and sift Volan Fiberglass Cloth is made the ECD 900 yarn for the warp and ECD 1800 yarn for the fill. The "E" means electrical as in the composition of the glass, the "C" means the glass is drawn as continuous as in the true rod-making process and "D" is the filament diameter of 5 microns. Though incredibly light the yarn used in the warp is twice the weight of that used in the fill and recommend to keep used the warp orientation when you thinking about the tensile strength.

There are two different surface treatments Electronic Fiberglass Cloth, "Chrome Based Volan" and "Silicone Based Silane", Volan treated fiberglass cloth is the softest that can be used for any resin but mostly commonly Epoxy is used. Silanes treated fiberglass cloth has a little stiffer that main developed for various markets like the circuit board and surfboard industry.
