Radiant Panel Flame Spread Tester Product Introduction:
ASTM E162 is one of the standard methods widely used in the United States to test the flame propagation performance of materials. Its testing principle combines the dual heat sources of radiant panel heating and gas torch ignition. This method simulates the combustion behavior of materials under the combined action of thermal radiation and open flames. It is cited by key standards in the rail transit field such as NFPA 130 and is specifically used to evaluate the fire safety performance of train interior parts (including side wall panels, ceiling composite materials, sound insulation barriers, window sealing systems, door frame structures and seat guards, etc.).
The radiant panel flame spread tester is strictly designed in
accordance with ASTM E162 and ASTM D3675 standards. Through a
controllable radiant heat source and an auxiliary ignition device,
it quantitatively analyzes the flame spread characteristics of the
material surface. During the test, the sample is continuously
exposed to the combined action of the radiant panel (maximum
temperature up to 750°C) and the standard blowtorch flame for 15
minutes, and the time node when the flame front passes the preset
calibration position is monitored in real time. In addition, the
system simultaneously integrates functional modules such as heat
release rate monitoring, dynamic analysis of smoke generation, and
recording of droplet combustion behavior to comprehensively
evaluate the fire hazard parameters of the material.
